Red Bulls Host Youth Soccer Summit: Focus on Player Development

The New York Red Bulls welcomed youth soccer leaders to Sports Illustrated Stadium on Sunday, March 1 for the 10th Annual Youth Soccer Summit. The event was hosted in collaboration with New Jersey Youth Soccer and presented by RWJBarnabas Health.

The annual Summit serves as a platform for collaboration across the youth soccer ecosystem. It brings together leaders from grassroots clubs, leagues, and national organisations to discuss the evolving landscape of player development.

Collaboration for Growth

Red Bulls President and General Manager Marc de Grandpre opened the day with remarks. He emphasised the importance of collaboration between the professional club and the youth soccer community. The aim is to support the long-term growth of the game.

Insights into Player Pathways

Attendees heard from leaders across multiple levels of the sport. Luis Robles, MLS NEXT Technical Director and former Red Bulls captain, shared insights into the continued growth of MLS NEXT. He discussed how the league is working to strengthen the development environment for elite youth players.

Sean McCafferty, Director Academy and Pro Pathway for Red Bull New York, provided an inside look at the Red Bulls Academy structure. He explained how the club’s development model connects academy players to professional opportunities within the organisation.

The Summit also featured presentations on the evolving U.S. Soccer player pathway. These highlighted national efforts to better align youth leagues and development environments. The goal is to create clearer opportunities for players as they progress through the game.

Additional sessions provided deeper insight into player development and the evolving structure of the youth soccer landscape.

The day concluded with a panel discussion featuring Julian De Guzman and Michael Bradley.
