Rangers Move Up in Scottish Premiership After Victory

Rangers’ victory saw them move to second in the Scottish Premiership. They remain three points off the leaders. However, they could drop back to third tomorrow.

Rangers Dominate Aberdeen

Rangers were the better team and thoroughly deserved their victory. The size of the victory did not flatter them. Aberdeen created very, very little.

Rangers secured a fourth goal, a free-kick from James Tavernier. The home captain curled a superb strike in off the underside of the bar. The goals were scored by Tochi Chukwuani, Mikey Moore, Nico Raskin and James Tavernier, with Dennis Geiger briefly bringing Aberdeen back into things at 2-1.

Mikey Moore has become a favourite of Rangers’ supporters, bolstered by his impressive goal.

Aberdeen’s Struggles

Aberdeen are in a position where it’s a real struggle. Aberdeen’s advantage over the two sides below them has been reduced to three points. The St Mirren game will be very interesting in a couple of weeks’ time.

There seems to be suspicion that there was a handball by Connor Barron in the preamble to a Bojan Miovski goal. Replays showed the ball striking Connor Barron’s arm before the move that ended with the Bojan Miovski finish. The goal did not count in the end.

Bojan Miovski’s shot against his former club was saved. Djeidi Gassama forced the ball into the centre of the box, Ryan Naderi flicked it back and Miovski applied the finish. But there may have been a foul by Gassama in the build-up. Djeidi Gassama certainly got a lot behind that strike as it bounced just wide of the Aberdeen goal.

Premiership Break and Upcoming Fixtures

There is a two-week break for the Scottish Premiership after this weekend’s fixtures. Scotland will play two international friendlies during that period then it will be back to the domestic action on 4 and 5 April.

  • After Celtic’s visit to Dundee United on Sunday, there will be seven rounds of fixtures left.
  • Celtic can return to second and within two points of the leaders if they beat Dundee United at Tannadice tomorrow.
  • A booking was given to Aberdeen winger Topi Keskenin deep into added time after he hauled Oliver Antman to the ground as Rangers broke.

Aberdeen’s Future

Robinson has got the biggest task of any Aberdeen manager ahead of him. It’s make or break time for him. The players don’t respond or listen to any manager and are incapable of playing together as a team. According to Willie Miller, they have let the fans down by not giving everything for the shirt.
