Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has commented on the Premier League title race. This follows Manchester City’s game against West Ham.
Guardiola’s Perspective on the Title Race
Guardiola stated that it’s so difficult but they have a game in hand against Arsenal. He added that he is not saying it will be easy to beat them but there is hope. Guardiola said that you always have to be there.
He said he doesn’t know how Arsenal are playing because he didn’t see the last games but he has a few things that he likes, adding that it could be better but it is what it is.
Speaking after the West Ham game, Guardiola told TNT Sports: “Who said? It’s not over. We didn’t lose. It’s not over. We will continue.”
Manchester City’s Performance
Guardiola said that it just resumes the season, adding that they didn’t score enough goals. He stated that it has happened a thousand million times for this team in the last decade but this season they struggled.
He said that they cannot play 90 minutes like the last 20 minutes, adding that it’s impossible because they’re playing Madrid and travel, and then come to London in three days. Guardiola stated that it’s tough but they have to fight, fight, fight until the end.
Guardiola, speaking to BBC Match of the Day, stated that to win the Premier League you need to be more consistent. He added that in the past they had the consistency to win and win and win, to always find a way. Guardiola said that in the past, they always found a way to win this type of game and this season, not scoring goals for the amount of chances they’ve created, they’ve been punished.
Guardiola said Man City controlled the game in the first 20 minutes, but without much threat and he doesn’t like that. He added that you need the spark in the final third with your players.
Guardiola’s pride in his team
Guardiola said that the players deserve a monument because of how they work and how unfair that they didn’t get the reward for what they’ve tried. He added that it’s football something.
He said he’s so proud that they played so good, he likes the way they do and they move forward and hopefully on Tuesday against Real Madrid with their people they can create a good vibe and see what happens.
Guardiola told TNT Sports that they have an incredible team, spirit, and an incredible amount of effort. He stated that the last two games, including Nottingham Forest, they played much better.
He added that they are an incredible team and they play so good, going until they can’t continue. Guardiola said that they didn’t score enough goals when they had the quality to score and they punished us.
Guardiola’s touchline ban
On watching from the stands, Guardiola said it was perfect and that he loved to be there. He joked that he would complain more to the referees to get more yellow cards and he will try it again, stating that it was different, more relaxed.
He also spoke about being on the phone with assistant Pep Lijnders, saying that they charged the battery before.
Guardiola stated that they will now rest and prepare for Madrid and give everything, adding that these guys deserve it.
