Pierre Gasly’s car tumbled over in the opening laps of the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday.
Gasly Involved in Lap 6 Incident
Gasly’s car rolled over after he was on the outside of Liam Lawson entering the Turn 17 hairpin on lap 6. Lawson locked up the brakes on his car and made contact with Gasly, whose car flipped over before coming to a rest wedged up against a barrier.
Gasly was OK and was able to walk away from his car after the crash.
Hadjar Crash Causes Safety Car
The wreck happened just after Isack Hadjar crashed himself. Hadjar clipped the wall hard enough to break the steering on his car before it drove straight into the outside wall at the end of the chicane.
The two crashes just seconds apart from each other brought out the first safety car of the race.
Verstappen and Hamilton Involved in Early Incidents
The chaos just laps into the race came after an eventful start. Max Verstappen spun by himself just after the race began after starting second. Then Franco Colapinto and Lewis Hamilton made contact after Colapinto slid into the left side of Hamilton’s car.
Antonelli Wins
Kimi Antonelli won the race for his third straight victory of 2026.
