Phillies Duo Harper and Schwarber to Feature in Home Run Derby

Kyle Schwarber has confirmed his participation in the T-Mobile Home Run Derby on Monday night, joining fellow Phillies teammate Bryce Harper.

The announcement on Friday means the two Phillies sluggers will both feature in the event.

The Home Run Derby is scheduled for Monday night at Citizens Bank Park, with the 2026 T-Mobile Home Run Derby set for July 13 at 8 p.m. ET.

Coverage for the event is due to begin at 7 p.m. ET.

Schwarber’s Derby History and Current Form

Schwarber, who entered Friday leading Major League Baseball with 32 home runs, has a history with the Home Run Derby.

He reached the finals of the competition in 2018 at Nationals Park.

During that event, Schwarber lost to Bryce Harper, who was then playing for Washington.

Schwarber himself played for the Cubs at the time.

The 2018 Derby was also the last occasion that teammates took part in the Home Run Derby, featuring the Cubs’ Javier Báez and Kyle Schwarber.

Schwarber also participated in the 2022 Home Run Derby.

On that occasion, he was eliminated in the first round by Cardinals superstar Albert Pujols.

Schwarber has been a slugger since he made his big league debut with the Cubs in 2015.

He has truly become an elite home run hitter since he signed with the Phillies before the 2022 season.

Powerful Hitting Statistics

Fans attending the Derby in right field at Citizens Bank Park may wish to keep their eyes open when Schwarber hits.

They might also want to bring a glove.

His home runs this season have left his bat at an average of 106.6 mph.

This average exit velocity is tied for 18th out of 120 players who have hit 10 or more home runs.

Schwarber’s bombs also travel an average distance of 404 feet.

This average distance is tied for 32nd overall.

He has hit two of the 20 longest home runs in baseball this year.

One travelled 460 feet in Colorado on April 3, making it the 12th longest of the year.

Another homer, hit on June 20 at Citizens Bank Park, measured 457 feet, which is tied for 19th longest.

With Schwarber’s current form and past Derby experience, his presence alongside teammate Harper sets the stage for the T-Mobile Home Run Derby.
