A new documentary chronicling the journey of Paula Radcliffe has been released by Abbott World Marathon Majors. Entitled ‘Paula Radcliffe: Chasing Stars’, the film focuses on the former world record holder’s attempt to secure the Six Star medal.
Radcliffe’s Six Star Journey
The Six Star medal is awarded to runners who complete the six original races in the Abbott World Marathon Majors series. Radcliffe, who retired from competitive marathon running in 2015, returned to the roads to complete the Tokyo and Boston marathons in 2025.
The documentary, available on the AbbottWMM YouTube channel, looks back at a career that featured three victories in New York City, a win in Chicago in 2002, and three London Marathon titles. Her career also includes two world records and a world championship gold medal.
Behind the Scenes of ‘Chasing Stars’
The new documentary highlights Radcliffe’s struggle with long-standing foot injuries as she prepared to complete two marathons in a six-week period. It also features her children, Isla and Raphael.
A significant portion of the film focuses on Isla’s participation in the 2025 TCS London Marathon, following her own recovery from cancer.
Reaction to the Film
Dawna Stone, CEO at Abbott World Marathon Majors, said “We are honoured that Paula allowed our team to document this journey after such an amazing career. Seeing a legend of the sport want to get back out there and earn the Six Star medal we know means so much to so many runners is a testament to the power of these races.”
Paula Radcliffe said “The Six Star medal was always something I knew was out there. It was going to be a case of my foot standing up to the demands I was placing on it. But I also wanted to enjoy these races the way thousands of others do every year, and it was incredibly special to be able to do that.”
In addition to her athletic achievements, Radcliffe hosts ‘Paula’s Run Club’, a podcast and community platform.
