The Mariners are in danger of being swept by the Padres for the season. They have not won a single game against them thus far. The prized Vedder Cup guitar is no longer in their possession. George Kirby is Seattle’s last hope for a win against the Padres this season.
Mariners’ Lineup Changes and Donovan’s Injury
There was a last-minute change to the Mariners’ lineup. Brendan Donovan was originally out, with Leo Rivas playing third base. Dan Wilson had mentioned earlier that Donovan was being managed day to day, but didn’t rule out him being available as a pinch hitter.
However, Donovan was placed on the 10-day IL with a groin strain. The Mariners are calling up their top prospect, infielder Colt Emerson, from Tacoma.
Injury Updates: Speier and Brash
Gabe Speier threw a bullpen session today and it appeared to go well. Matt Brash is in Tacoma today making a rehab outing.
