Packers Expect Big Things From Matthew Golden After Offseason Changes

The Green Bay Packers are anticipating a big year for receiver Matthew Golden following offseason changes at the wide receiver position.

Golden had a quiet rookie campaign after being the first wideout selected by the club in the first round since 2002.

Offseason Changes Create Opportunity

The offseason saw Romeo Doubs leave for the New England Patriots in free agency. Dontayvion Wicks was also traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich said, “He’s looked great so far and it’s going to be a big year for him. I’m excited to watch it.”

Golden’s 2025 Season

After a promising training camp and preseason, Golden struggled in the regular season. He dealt with wrist and shoulder injuries.

In 14 regular-season games, Golden only exceeded 60 yards once, with 86 yards in Week 6 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He had six games with fewer than 10 yards, including three games with no yards gained.

Golden finished the regular season with 361 yards on 29 catches and zero touchdowns.

Postseason Performance Offers Hope

Golden showed promise in the postseason, netting 84 yards on four catches. He also scored his first career touchdown in a wild-card loss to the Chicago Bears.

Green Bay is hoping that this performance will carry over into 2026.

Golden is expected to team up with Jayden Reed and Christian Watson as the clear top three on the depth chart.
