Oscars 2026: ‘One Battle After Another’ Claims Best Picture

The 98th Academy Awards saw One Battle After Another dominate, taking home six Oscars. The action-thriller by Paul Thomas Anderson won awards including Best Picture and Best Directing.

‘One Battle After Another’ Wins Big

One Battle After Another also secured awards for Best Editing, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Casting. Anderson, accepting his award, remarked on the effort required to win one. He had been nominated 14 times previously.

Michael B. Jordan Honoured for ‘Sinners’

Sinners also enjoyed a successful night, winning four awards. Michael B. Jordan won Best Actor for his portrayal of twins Smoke and Stack. Jordan thanked the Black actors “who came before me” in his acceptance speech.

Autumn Durald Arkapaw, the cinematographer for Sinners, became the first woman to win Best Cinematography.

Other Notable Wins

Frankenstein secured three wins. KPop Demon Hunters took home two awards, including Best Original Song. Two People Exchanging Saliva and The Singers tied for Best Live Action Short Film.

Ejae, who co-wrote “Golden” for KPop Demon Hunters, said she never dreamt of performing at the Oscars or winning Best Original Song. Ejae said she was grateful, especially “for us as Korean American women onstage”.

Remembering Rob Reiner

The show included a segment dedicated to actors, writers, and filmmakers who died in 2025. Billy Crystal presented a tribute to Rob Reiner. The actor and director was stabbed to death in December.

Host Conan O’Brien ended the night with a shoutout to Martin Short, saying, “We love you, Marty Short.”
