Oregon State Beavers Edge Portland Pilots in 12-Inning Thriller

Oregon State’s baseball team emerged victorious against the Portland Pilots on Tuesday night, clinching a 6-4 win in 12 innings. The game, held in Hillsboro, saw the Beavers racking up ten hits. This marks their second extra-innings triumph within a week, following a win against CSU Northridge.

Beavers Battle Through Extra Innings

Albert Roblez, typically the Beavers’ closer, earned the win on the mound, his second of the season. Noah Scott secured his first save of the season. Josh Proctor delivered two RBIs.

Oregon State initiated the scoring in the second inning, with Proctor doubling to bring Ethan Porter home. Jacob Galloway followed with an RBI single. Portland responded in their half of the second with a solo home run from Leo Cote.

Trey Swygart added another home run for Portland in the third off starter Connor Mendez.

Late-Inning Drama and Clutch Hits

In the eighth, AJ Singer’s RBI double put Oregon State ahead, scoring Easton Talt. Cole Katayama-Stall then hit a two-RBI double off Wyatt Queen, putting the Pilots back in front.

Facing a deficit in the ninth, Oregon State needed a comeback. Porter walked, and Nyan Hayes entered as a pinch runner. Hayes advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Adam Haight. Proctor then doubled to left, tying the game at 4-4.

Both teams had opportunities in the tenth and eleventh innings but could not capitalise.

Twelfth-Inning Push Seals the Win

In the 12th inning, Tyler Inge doubled and stole third. Talt and Singer walked to load the bases. Bryson Glassco and Paul Vazquez then hit RBI singles, putting the Beavers ahead 6-4. Zach Edwards replaced Albert Roblez, recording the first two outs in the bottom of the 12th. Noah Scott then entered and secured the final out.

Looking Ahead

The win improves Oregon State’s record to 37-11. They now have a three-game winning streak. The Beavers will travel for a three-game series against Long Beach State, which starts Friday evening and will be broadcast on ESPN+ at 6:05 p.m. PT. Oregon State will then play again on Tuesday, May 12 in Corvallis.
