A senior from Tri-Village High School is in the running for Ohio Mr. Basketball.
Trey Sagester, a standout at the Darke County school, has been named as one of seven finalists for the prestigious award.
The Ohio Prep Sports Media Association made the announcement on Wednesday.
Sagester’s Impressive High School Career
Sagester has twice been named Division VI Southwest District and Western Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year.
His current season stats show an average of 24.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 3.7 steals per game.
He has become the Patriots’ all-time leading scorer, recently passing the 2,000 career points milestone.
According to the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), Sagester is on track to feature in the top five for most games played in OHSAA history. He’s also projected to be a top 20 three-point maker and a top 25 scorer in OHSAA history.
The Competition
Sagester faces competition from other talented players across Ohio.
The other finalists are Brunswick’s Trey Dexter, Delphos St. John’s Cameron Elwer, Garfield Heights’ Marcus Johnson, Marysville’s Gator Nichols, Columbus Academy’s Jason Singleton, and Lakota West’s Josh Tyson.
Voting and Announcement Details
Voting concludes on Monday, March 16.
The winner is set to be revealed on Thursday, March 19.
The Ohio Ms. Basketball winner will be announced tomorrow.
Kayla Thornton from Fairmont High School is a finalist for that award.
