Norwich Look to Pile Pressure on Portsmouth in Championship

Norwich are aiming to increase the pressure on Championship strugglers Portsmouth.

Norwich may be impacted by a congested treatment room, but their form in 2026 suggests they can overcome this. Eleven wins from 15 league fixtures shows that it isn’t stalling their progress.

Philippe Clement will be keen for them to finish as high as possible with a promotion challenge on the agenda next season.

Pompey’s Poor Away Form a Concern

Portsmouth are precariously positioned, just one point clear of the relegation places.

Their recent form is poor. A 6-1 mauling away at QPR last time out stretched their winless run to six.

Pompey have won only four of their 19 away league games.

Norwich’s Carrow Road Strength

Norwich have a strong home record. They have won seven of their last eight at Carrow Road, including a victory over league leaders Coventry.

Two of Norwich’s four defeats in that run have come against promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough and Southampton.

Norwich, had it not been for a dreadful start to the campaign, could have been firmly in the playoff picture.

Other Championship and League One Predictions

Elsewhere in the leagues, Plymouth look set to cause problems for Bolton. The League One playoffs look the likely final destination for Bolton following their three-game winless run.

Another setback could be on the cards at fast-finishing Plymouth. Wanderers limped to a 1-0 loss at basement boys Port Vale last time out, registering just two shots on target.

Steven Schumacher’s side were held to a goalless draw at home to Doncaster in between those fixtures and this may be a bad time to be making the long trip to Plymouth.

  • Plymouth have won seven of their last nine matches to move within two points of the playoff spots.
  • They have scored at least three goals in five of those victories, which includes putting five past second-placed Cardiff at Home Park.

Walsall should take advantage of Gillingham’s poor form. Gillingham are preparing for the summer in League Two and their lack of motivation should be punished by playoff-chasing Walsall.

Gills’ season has petered out and they head to the Bescot Stadium in freefall, having suffered ten defeats in their last 13 league matches.

Walsall remain in the playoff hunt following a four-game unbeaten run.

Stoke should have no problems seeing off relegated Sheffield Wednesday. Million Manhoef may inflict some early damage on the Owls.

The tricky Dutchman scored in both halves of Stoke’s 3-1 victory over Watford in their last home game while he also netted a brace in a 3-0 win at Wednesday earlier in the campaign, opening the scoring inside a minute.

Walsall are just two points off the top six.
