The EXCELR8 Motorsport driver’s performance led to an overall victory in the Jack Sears Trophy. Emotional celebrations followed at the podium.

Hamilton’s Reaction to the Victory

Hamilton expressed his disbelief after the weekend’s events. He stated he never expected to win the Jack Sears Trophy at Snetterton.

“I honestly cannot believe what has happened this weekend as I never expected to walk away from Snetterton as winner of the Jack Sears Trophy,” said Hamilton.

Hamilton emphasized his focus on self-improvement, describing being on the podium as an amazing experience. He said the hard work from himself, the team, and the car meant he was quicker than ever before and is proud of his driving.

Earning the Trophy

Hamilton acknowledged his desire to earn the trophy rather than have it gifted to him. He feels he earned it and deserved it this weekend. He noted the need to improve his starts, but was able to work his way forwards in every race because he had the pace to do it.

Support and Inspiration

Hamilton acknowledged the support from the BTCC paddock and the wider community around the championship. He described the podium experience as surreal, seeing everyone cheering.

“The amount of support from the BTCC paddock and from the whole community around the championship has been incredible and it was truly a surreal moment to be there on the podium seeing the everyone cheering.

Hamilton dedicated the win to those who have supported him, including those who doubted him, which fuelled his desire. He hopes his achievement will inspire the disabled community.

“This is for everyone who has stuck by me and supported me, and even those who have doubted me as it has only fuelled my desire to reach my goal. For all those in the disabled community, hopefully this will provide further inspiration of what is possible.”

Hamilton said he could retire happy after achieving his dream, having been told he would never walk.

“I’m not going to, but I could happily hang my boots, gloves and helmet up after this weekend knowing that I have achieved the dream of a little boy who was told he would never walk.
