2026 NFL Draft: Teams Expected to Make Trades

The 2026 NFL Draft is just hours away, and anticipation is building. Experts are expecting a decent number of trades. Uncertainty beyond the first overall pick has teams keeping their plans closely guarded.

Raiders Eye Mendoza

Daniel Jeremiah’s final forecast projects the Raiders selecting Mendoza. The Raiders have signed Tyler Linderbaum and Kirk Cousins. The aim is to facilitate a smooth transition for their new quarterback and compete in a division full of talented quarterbacks.

Jets Could Bolster Defensive Line

The Jets may choose between Bailey or Arvell Reese from Ohio State. Jeremiah projects Bailey as the pick, viewing him as the more refined player with the more defined role. Pairing Bailey with Will McDonald IV would give the Jets two fastballs off the edge.

Saints Eye Defensive Upgrade

The Cardinals may trade down if offered a 2027 first-round pick. The Saints have made 25 draft trades since 2008, trading up in all of them. Assistant GM Jeff Ireland was with the Cowboys when they drafted Pro Football Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware. Defensive coordinator Brandon Staley might be reminded of Leonard Floyd.

Giants in the Market for Love?

If the Cardinals trade down, Love could fall into the Giants’ lap. The Giants could pair Jaxson Dart with a home run hitter in the backfield. If Love is off the board at No. 5, WR Jordyn Tyson would be the pick.

Browns Considering Trade Down

The Browns are reportedly trying to trade down from No. 6. If they stay at No. 6, the decision is expected to be between Fano and Kadyn Proctor. The projection is that they will go with the more athletic and consistent offensive lineman.

Washington’s Need at Wide Receiver

The Commanders have a need at wide receiver. There are legitimate durability concerns about Tyson, but they are willing to take a chance on the upside. Safety Caleb Downs is also a possibility here.

Cardinals Aim to Solidify Offensive Line

Mauigoa could slot in at right tackle opposite Paris Johnson Jr. on the left side. This would give the Cardinals bookends on the offensive line.

Chiefs Weigh Defensive Options

It feels like the Chiefs will be deciding between a pass rusher (Rueben Bain Jr.) and a cornerback. They may go with the top cover man in the draft after losing multiple starters from the secondary in the offseason.

Round 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft will be broadcast live beginning at 8 p.m. ET on April 23 on NFL Network, NFL+, the NFL Channel, ABC, ESPN and ESPN Deportes.
