New Mexico Lobos Name Ryan Berryman Athletics Director

The University of New Mexico (UNM) has officially named Ryan Berryman as its Vice President and Director of Athletics. University President Garnett S. Stokes made the announcement, removing Berryman’s interim title.

Berryman is a New Mexico native and a three-time UNM graduate.

Stokes said that Berryman was evaluated against an outstanding field of candidates, and he stood above them.

A Lobo Through and Through

Berryman is one of the youngest athletics directors in Division I.

He is also the first Lobo alumnus to lead the department in the modern era.

Early Career and Achievements

Berryman began his career as a student manager for the men’s basketball program in 2012. He contributed to back-to-back Mountain West Championships.

Impact During Interim Period

During his two-month interim period, Berryman led efforts for improvements at University Stadium. He also secured a 10-year naming rights partnership with Nusenda Credit Union.

Stokes Praises Berryman

“This search confirmed what Lobo Athletics has in Ryan Berryman,” said Stokes.

Berryman’s appointment marks a new chapter for Lobo Athletics, with a focus on continued growth and success under his leadership.
