Nebraska Basketball Aim to Tie School Wins Record Against UCLA

The No. 9 Nebraska men’s basketball team have the chance to make school history on Tuesday against UCLA. The Huskers travel to Pauley Pavilion for the match. Tipoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. (Central), with the game broadcast on FS1 and the Huskers Radio Network.

Huskers’ Recent Victory Over USC

Nebraska (25-4, 14-4 B1G) are coming off an 82-67 win at USC. They overturned a 36-31 halftime deficit by shooting 53 percent in the second half. The Huskers outscored USC, 51-31 after the break. Pryce Sandfort led the way with 32 points, 20 of which came in the second half. Braden Frager contributed 17 points, while Rienk Mast added 11.

Nebraska won the game with strong rebounding. They had a 41-25 advantage on the glass. The Huskers capitalised on 18 offensive rebounds, turning them into a season-high 19 second-chance points.

Sandfort Closing in on Big Ten Record

Sandfort’s performance against USC marked his third 30-point game of the season. He also made five 3-pointers. Sandfort is now close to Shawn Respert’s Big Ten record for most 3-pointers in conference play, set in 1994-95. He needs five more 3-pointers to equal the record.

UCLA’s Recent Defeat

UCLA (19-10, 11-7 B1G) will be looking to bounce back from a 78-73 road loss to Minnesota. Tyler Bilodeau scored 32 points and grabbed eight rebounds in that game. Eric Dailey Jr. and Skyy Clark combined for 35 points.

UCLA shot 51 percent and made 10 3-pointers. They also out-rebounded Minnesota, 30-20. However, Minnesota shot 58 percent from the field, including 12-of-23 from 3-point range.

Nebraska’s Record-Chasing Opportunity

The Huskers are aiming to secure one of the four triple-byes for next week’s Big Ten Tournament. A win against UCLA would tie the school record for wins in a season.

  • Pryce Sandfort has three 30-point games this year.
  • Nebraska have made 312 3-pointers this season, seven shy of the school record of 319 set in 2023-24.
  • NU has hit 10-or-more 3-pointers in 19 games this season.

Nebraska started their West Coast trip with a win at USC.
