Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama, Cade Cunningham, Luka Dončić and Nikola Jokić have been named to the Kia All-NBA First Team. The NBA announced the league’s Kia All-NBA teams on Sunday. The announcement came ahead of the Thunder meeting the Spurs in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final.
First Team Highlights
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Victor Wembanyama headline the Kia All-NBA team. Gilgeous-Alexander and Jokić were named to the First Team on 100 out of 100 ballots. Wembanyama was named First Team on 99 ballots.
Second and Third Team Selections
Jaylen Brown, Jalen Brunson, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard and Donovan Mitchell were named to the Second Team. Tyrese Maxey, Jamal Murray, Jalen Johnson, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Duren were named to the Third Team. Brown was named to the First Team on 44 ballots; this was the most of any player outside the top five.
All-NBA Selection Milestones
Kevin Durant became the 12th player with 12 All-NBA selections. Kawhi Leonard is now a seven-time All-NBA pick. Jalen Brunson and Donovan Mitchell are now three-time selections. Jaylen Brown made it for the second time.
All the players on the Third Team made All-NBA for the first time.
Eligibility and Notable Absences
LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers was among those ineligible to get votes because he didn’t play in enough games. This marks only the second time in his 23-season career that he was not an All-NBA pick.
Also not eligible this year because of the 65-game rule were Golden State’s Stephen Curry and Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo. This ended Antetokounmpo’s streak of being listed on every All-NBA ballot for eight consecutive years.
The media voting panel selects players to the Kia All-NBA Teams without regard to position. Players are awarded five points for each vote to the First Team, three points for each vote to the Second Team and one point for each vote to the Third Team.
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokić received 100 First Team votes.
- Victor Wembanyama received 99 First Team votes.
- Kevin Durant earns his 12th All-NBA selection.
