Munetaka Murakami left Friday’s game against the Tigers at Rate Field due to right hamstring tightness. This occurred after he beat out a one-out fielder’s choice grounder to second in the third inning. The White Sox first baseman is undergoing further evaluation.
Murakami’s Hamstring Issue
Having appeared in all 57 games this season, Murakami appeared to grab at his right hamstring. He winced as he was walking back to first. Luisangel Acuña replaced Murakami.
Acuña subsequently scored from first on Miguel Vargas’ double in the next at-bat.
Impactful First Season
Murakami, 26, agreed to a two-year, $34 million deal in the offseason. The Japanese sensation features a .938 OPS and a .378 on-base percentage. He has changed the franchise over the first two months of his first Major League career.
