Monmouth are set to face Hofstra in the championship game after both teams won their semi-final matchups. Hofstra reached the final following a dramatic, last-second victory over Towson. Monmouth advanced after defeating Campbell by 10 points.
Hofstra’s Buzzer-Beater Sends Them to Final
Hofstra secured their place in the championship game with a 68-65 overtime win against Towson. Preston Edmead hit a wild, banked-in shot as time expired. The shot sparked a huge celebration on the Hofstra bench with just 0.3 seconds left on the clock.
Edmead finished the game with 22 points, including five 3-pointers. Cruz Davis contributed 18 points and five rebounds. Joshua DeCady added 10 points.
Tyler Tejada led Towson with 29 points and seven rebounds, while Dylan Williamson added 15 points. Towson went 9-9 in CAA play, and beat both Hampton and No. 2 seed Charleston to reach the semi-finals.
Claxton’s Coaching Impact
Hofstra are being led by Speedy Claxton. Claxton took over ahead of the 2021-22 campaign and is now in his fifth season with the program.
If Hofstra win the championship game, they will secure their first trip to the NCAA tournament since 2001. Jay Wright was leading Hofstra then. Hofstra reached the tournament in back-to-back seasons.

Hofstra will now take on Monmouth in the championship game on Tuesday night.
