Mitrovic Scores as Al Rayyan Clinch QSL Cup Title

Al Rayyan, spearheaded by Aleksandar Mitrovic, secured their first-ever title in the QSL Cup. The side won the final 2-0 against Muaither SC, with Mitrovic contributing a goal.

Al Rayyan Take the Lead

Roger Guedes opened the scoring in the final moments of the first half. He finished with composure after beating his opponent with a neat piece of skill, putting Al Rayyan ahead.

Mitrovic, the Serbian international, extended the lead eight minutes after the restart. He headed the ball into the net following a free-kick.

Al Rayyan Dominate Second Half

Muaither struggled to mount a comeback. Al Rayyan maintained control throughout the majority of the second half, securing their first trophy since 2018.

Mitrovic said after the game: “It’s an incredible feeling. We worked hard for this. It has been a long season, and in the end, we reached the final. We are very happy because we gave everything, and I hope this will be a big boost for the future. This trophy will give us confidence to win more titles. But I am very happy for the final. After so long, we managed to bring a trophy to the club.”

Mitrovic Achieves Key Objective

This is the first trophy that Mitrovic has won since his arrival in Qatar from Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia. It comes a month after he stated that achieving this objective was most important in an interview.

“The objective is to win at least one trophy,” he said in March.

He added: “In recent years, the team has not been lucky, they have been close to winning some trophies, but they have never managed to bring them home. So, I hope that the goals I score will be decisive in returning a trophy to the club.”
