Marco Penge has withdrawn from the Oneflight Myrtle Beach Classic. The announcement came on Wednesday, with Penge citing “health reasons” for his withdrawal from the PGA Tour’s opposite-field event.
Penge Aims for PGA Championship Return
Penge downplayed the severity of the issue. He said it’s “nothing serious” and that he wants to get “fully fit for next week at the PGA Championship.”
Penge is ranked No. 39 in the world. Last month, he finished T-49 in his first Masters appearance. He also tied for 28th at the 2025 PGA Championship. The Englishman earned his 2026 PGA Tour card for his performance on the DP World Tour last season, when he won three times in a six-month span.
Alternates Named for the Oneflight
Penge is the sixth player to withdraw from the Oneflight this week. Two of the others had reasons other than injury.
Andrew Putnam and Austin Smotherman were originally on the tee sheet at Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They got bumped up to this week’s Truist Championship, a signature event at Quail Hollow, after there were two WDs. It was an early-week promotion for them.
The Oneflight has a field of 123 players, including Brooks Koepka. Two alternates, Troy Merritt and James Hahn, were added to round out the groupings.
The Oneflight continues with two alternates added to the field.
