Man Utd Team News: Carrick Updates Squad Before Bournemouth Trip

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has provided an update on his squad ahead of their away game against Bournemouth. The match kicks off at 20:00 GMT on Friday evening. This is their final game before a 24-day break in first-team action.

Injury Updates From Carrington

Noussair Mazraoui missed training at Carrington on Wednesday due to feeling unwell. Lisandro Martinez also remained absent. Mason Mount is available again but unlikely to start, having been an unused substitute in their 3-1 win over Aston Villa.

Carrick addressed the press regarding injuries, the Bournemouth game, and England hopefuls. Matthijs de Ligt and Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu are also currently unavailable due to injury.

“[Lisandro is] closer, a lot closer. He’s getting there, so after this one. I think he’ll be alright. [Dorgu] is a bit further down the line but [Mazraoui] is just ill. He just wasn’t feeling too good today,” said Carrick.

  • Mazraoui felt under the weather.
  • Martinez has been ruled out but should be okay for the Leeds contest on Monday 13 April.
  • De Ligt is also unavailable due to a back issue.

Carrick said of De Ligt: “It’s [a] similar [situation] really [with De Ligt] and frustrating for Matta. He’s obviously trying to work to get back but it’s just the back issue, really, that’s proving difficult. We’ll keep working as hard as we can, to get him back as quickly as we can.”

Bournemouth’s Team News

Bournemouth were without Tyler Adams for their 0-0 draw at Burnley. His absence was said to be a precaution, however, his availability for the Manchester United match is uncertain. “I cannot tell you if he’s going to be available or not [for Friday],” said Cherries boss Andoni Iraola. “I think it’s going to be difficult.”

Alex Jimenez started on the bench at Turf Moor. Adam Smith was drafted into the XI at right-back. Winger Ben Gannon-Doak was fit enough to be among the substitutes after a lengthy lay-off.

Julio Soler, Lewis Cook and Justin Kluivert have been sidelined due to injury.

United’s Good Record Before Breaks

Manchester United are heading into this match against a Cherries side on the longest current unbeaten run in the division (10 games). The Reds have a good recent record before international breaks.
