Manchester United have reportedly made an ‘offer’ to Atalanta midfielder Ederson. Reports indicate that Man Utd are showing “the most interest” in the Brazilian.
United’s Midfield Investment
Man Utd were criticised last summer for not investing in their midfield. Instead, they focused on bringing in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have decided to heavily invest in their midfield this summer. Earlier reports claimed they have £150m to sign three midfielders.
Ederson a Key Target
Ederson is consistently linked with a move to Old Trafford. He is seen as one of the best defensive midfielders available.
Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed Man Utd’s interest in Ederson. He mentioned Sandro Tonali as another name on their shortlist.
Romano suggested Ederson from Atlanta could be a backup option, available for €40-45m. Carlos Baleba is also reportedly a name of interest.
Details of the Reported Offer
Ben Jacobs revealed Man Utd had been in touch with Ederson’s camp. A €50m transfer fee has been communicated.
Jacobs stated that Atalanta value Ederson around €50m. He also noted that Arsenal are keeping tabs.
Atletico Madrid have reportedly already agreed terms with the midfielder. They have not yet reached a club-to-club agreement, and are also in talks with Wolves for Joao Gomes.
Italian journalist Matteo Moretto has reported that Man Utd have made a contract offer worth €4.5m a year to Ederson.
Moretto said that Manchester United are currently the club that has shown the most interest, offering around €4.5 million net per year.
Arsenal have also made enquiries, though Ederson is not a priority for them. United appear to have the strongest financial capacity right now.
Potential Hijacking of Atletico Madrid’s Deal
Atletico Madrid have reportedly ‘agreed’ personal terms with Ederson. However, Manchester United are ‘ready’ to hijack the deal this summer.
Man Utd will “decide very soon” on their summer midfield targets.
