Manchester United, Liverpool and Ipswich Town had scouts present as Ola Aina played a part in Nottingham Forest’s victory over FC Midtjylland. The win ensured Forest advanced to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League.
Scouts Eye Potential Summer Transfers
According to a Danish outlet, Bold.dk, the scouts were at the MCH Arena on Thursday night. They were monitoring potential transfer targets ahead of the summer window.
Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Mönchengladbach and AS Monaco also had representatives present.
Aina’s Performance Against Midtjylland
Aina started the match on the bench but was brought on in the second half, replacing Dilane Bakwa with about 14 minutes remaining in regulation time. Shortly after coming on, Aina nearly scored after latching onto a pass from Morgan Gibbs-White, but his effort went narrowly over the crossbar.
Aina thought he had provided the assist for a Lorenzo Lucca goal at the start of extra time, but it was ruled out for offside. Forest held firm as the match ended 2–2 on aggregate. The Premier League side then triumphed 3–0 in the penalty shootout.
Forest Secure Quarterfinal Spot
The Super Eagles defender’s performance could intensify interest from several top clubs as the transfer window approaches.
Nottingham Forest remain in a strong position regarding Aina’s future. The Nigerian is under contract with the club until the summer of 2028.
