Luke Littler Tops Premier League Darts Table After Berlin Win

Luke Littler has taken the top spot in the Premier League Darts table after a 6-4 victory over Michael van Gerwen in the Berlin final. This win marks Littler’s third nightly title of the season. The 19-year-old’s performance in Berlin puts him ahead of Jonny Clayton in the league standings.

Littler’s Route to Victory in Berlin

Littler’s journey to the final included a 6-3 quarter-final win against Stephen Bunting. He then defeated Gerwyn Price 6-4, marking his third consecutive win against the Welshman. In the final against Van Gerwen at the Uber Arena, Littler averaged 106.36 and hit four maximums.

Littler showcased his finishing prowess with three ton-plus checkouts, including two ‘Big Fish’ finishes in the final three legs. He secured the £10,000 first prize and five points for the nightly win.

Van Gerwen’s Performance and the Top Four

Van Gerwen reached his first final since Night Two after defeating Luke Humphries and Josh Rock. Rock had earlier stunned Clayton to claim his first Premier League win of the season. Van Gerwen’s performance earned him three points, moving him into the top four.

Gerwyn Price remains in third place, followed by Van Gerwen. Humphries, the defending champion, has dropped outside the play-off places at the halfway stage of the league phase. Price’s path to the semi-finals included a win against Gian van Veen, who returned after missing the previous week’s event due to kidney stones.

Key Moments in the Final

  • Littler established an early lead, going up 3-0 with an 81 finish and a break on D10.
  • He then hit a 126 checkout on the bullseye to hold throw.
  • Van Gerwen responded with a 124 checkout on the bullseye to break back and level the match at 3-3.

Littler regained the lead and extended it with his first 170 finish of the night. Van Gerwen missed a dart at tops, allowing Littler to secure the win with another 170 checkout.

Littler’s Reaction

“Germany wasn’t too bad tonight,” Littler told Sky Sports. “I played very well and they were one my side at times. I reeled the 170s back in!”

He added, “I think this is definitely the best I have played in a night.

The Premier League Darts action continues in Manchester on Thursday April 2.
