Luka Dončić Fined $50K for Gesture During Lakers Game

Dallas Mavericks player Luka Dončić has been handed a $50,000 fine for an incident during a game against the Los Angeles Lakers. The NBA announced the fine on Tuesday, citing an “inappropriate and unprofessional gesture” directed at a referee.

The Offending Gesture

The incident occurred with 4:35 remaining in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the New York Knicks. Dončić was whistled for a blocking foul after attempting to draw a charge on Knicks forward Mohamed Diawara.

While on the floor, Dončić rubbed his fingers together in a money gesture while looking at official Tre Maddox.

Financial Impact and Technical Foul Count

The $50,000 fine represents approximately 0.109% of Dončić’s $46 million salary for the season.

Dončić has accumulated 15 technical fouls in 52 games this season. A 16th technical foul will result in a one-game suspension.

Lakers Upcoming Game

The Lakers (39-25) are scheduled to play the Minnesota Timberwolves (40-24) on Tuesday night.
