Knecht’s Struggles in Los Angeles
According to one report, “Dalton Knecht is someone who has overstayed his welcome in Los Angeles.” The report states that things began to decline for Knecht after a trade that never happened.
Knecht has struggled to secure a consistent spot in the rotation. It’s suggested that Knecht is not being used in the right way, as he is best as a scorer, rather than an off-ball shooter.
Despite speculation about his future, Knecht remained with the Lakers even after the trade deadline. It has been suggested that this offseason should be the time when the 25-year-old is moved on, possibly for a couple of second-rounders, or a different player.
Trade Request and Limited Impact
Knecht approached the Lakers’ front office and expressed his desire for a trade before Feb. 5, according to a report from January.
The Lakers were unable to find a trade partner for Knecht. It has been suggested that this outcome was not ideal considering that both parties need a fresh start.
Knecht had some solid performances, but his one-dimensional offensive approach and non-existent defence resulted in reduced minutes.
