Harlan explained that he, Mike Tirico, and Ian Eagle are all of similar age and feel connected to Breen’s success. Harlan feels like they are calling the Finals because Breen is a leading voice for their group. He believes Breen’s succession of Finals will be unequaled in the industry.
Harlan said he feels like he’s right behind Breen, enjoying the moment with him as his voice is chronicling these great Finals.
Harlan’s Admiration for Breen
Harlan acknowledged that he will likely never call an NBA Final himself. Despite this, the 65-year-old Harlan said he finds joy in watching Breen excel in the opportunity. He also appreciates the way Breen gives back to the league with his performance each spring.
Harlan feels he has been with Breen on the journey and enjoys that Breen represents their group of broadcasters in the league. He added that he has always loved watching Breen be the flagship voice of the league.
Breen’s Upcoming Finals Broadcast
The 64-year-old Breen will call this year’s NBA Finals on ABC. He will be working with his fourth different set of partners in as many seasons. The Finals will begin June 3.
