Kenneth Walker III Agrees to Terms With Kansas City Chiefs

Kenneth Walker III, fresh off a Super Bowl MVP award, has agreed to join the Kansas City Chiefs. A source confirmed the move to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Walker’s Impressive Season With Seattle

Walker is coming off what could be called the best season of his four-year career with the Seattle Seahawks. He was drafted out of Michigan State in 2022, going in the second round with the 41st pick.

In his first two seasons, Walker exceeded 1,100 scrimmage yards and scored nine touchdowns each year. However, he did miss four games in that span, then six in 2024, due to oblique, calf, and ankle injuries. This raised questions about how durable he was.

Going into a contract year, Walker made changes to his eating and sleeping habits last offseason. In 2025, he stayed healthy. Sharing snaps with Zach Charbonnet, Walker totaled 1,309 scrimmage yards and averaged 4.6 yards per carry during the regular season. Both were career highs.

Super Bowl LX MVP

Walker, at 25 years old, seemed to improve as the season progressed. His yards-per-carry average increased from 4.4 over the first 15 weeks to 5.9 over the final three games of the regular season.

He kept up his strong play in the playoffs, becoming Seattle’s primary running back after Charbonnet tore his ACL in the divisional round.

Despite scoring a career-low five touchdowns during the regular season, Walker scored four in three playoff games. He totalled 417 scrimmage yards. This included 161 yards on 29 touches in Seattle’s Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots. He became the first running back since Terrell Davis 28 years earlier to win Super Bowl MVP.

Walker played in all 20 games and did not miss a single practice once the season began. He was a full participant in all but five of them. Walker appeared on the Seahawks’ injury report in only three of the 21 weeks in which they produced one.

Explosive Playmaker

Walker is known as an explosive runner. Since 2022, he has 34 career carries (including playoffs) of 20-plus yards. That is the fourth most among running backs. This includes a 55-yard touchdown in Seattle’s win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16.

Dan Orlovsky, Peter Schrager and Pat McAfee reacted to the news that Kenneth Wallker III is signing with the Chiefs.

ESPN’s Brady Henderson contributed to this report.
