Kendrick Perkins Involved in Heated Exchange at Son’s Game

Kendrick Perkins, the former NBA player, found himself in a heated exchange at his son’s AAU game over the weekend. The incident occurred during a match between YPG Perkins and Swaveway Playaz at the Trae Young Family Athletic Center in Norman, Oklahoma, on Sunday.

Perkins Defends His Players

Video obtained shows the Celtics champ-turned-youth coach shouting at the other squad’s staff. Witnesses stated that the match was chippy on both sides. Sources close to Perk have said that a non-basketball play on one of his players triggered the incident.

Perkins addressed the video on social media, stating, “Damn right and it probably won’t be the last time!” He added, “I’m going to protect every single kid in my organization like they’re my own.”

Altercation Details and Police Involvement

The exchange was described as passionate, with men stepping in front of Perk and pushing him back. During his playing days, Perkins was listed at 6’10” and 270 pounds. Norman Police Department officers, working as off-duty security for the event, assisted in resolving the matter. According to Norman PD, nothing warranted any criminal charges or further involvement on their end.

Perkins’ Representative Comments

Perk’s rep, Kennard McGuire, said, “Kendrick is very passionate about everything, especially when it involves his kids.” He added, “We’re not going to waste water on an imaginary fire.”

Perkins’ History and Current Role

Perkins had a lengthy NBA career playing for the Celtics, Thunder, Cavaliers and Pelicans. He established himself as an enforcer and defensive player. He also coaches young basketball players, including his son, Kenxton, who is considered a top talent in the Class of 2030.
