Concerns have been raised regarding Kelsey Mitchell’s condition after the Indiana Fever’s recent game against the Washington Mystics.
Fever Insider Observes Possible Hip Issue
The Fever suffered a painful 104-102 overtime defeat to the Mystics. Caitlin Clark scored 32 points and forced overtime with a late three-pointer, while Mitchell contributed 24 points. However, Fever insider Scott Agness pointed out that Mitchell appeared to be experiencing discomfort.
Agness noted, “Kelsey Mitchell seemed to be bothered by a left hip, at least later in the game. Didn’t hear from her postgame, but definitely something I’ll keep an eye on and follow up on here moving forward.”
Neither the Fever nor Mitchell has released an official update about a possible injury. The thought of her dealing with discomfort is enough to raise eyebrows.
Mitchell’s Previous Health Scare
During a 2025 semifinal Game 5 matchup against the Las Vegas Aces, Mitchell left the game midway through the third quarter. She felt what was described as a “numbness/paralyzing feeling” in her legs.
It was later revealed that Mitchell suffered from rhabdomyolysis, a condition caused by muscle breakdown and extreme physical stress. Mitchell said her body “locked up” physically before fatigue and cramping took over.
Fever Already Dealing With Boston Injury
The Fever are already dealing with uncertainty around Aliyah Boston. The star centre exited Friday’s game with a lower-leg injury and was later listed as questionable for the next game. Another situation involving one of its core players is the last thing they would want right now.
At the same time, it is also important not to jump to conclusions too early. Long games, overtime minutes, fatigue, and physical contact can often leave players dealing with temporary soreness or discomfort. So, considering how the Fever vs Mystics was, that might be just it.
Mitchell’s Offensive Impact
Mitchell’s scoring ability has become a major reason why Indiana’s offence is effective. After opening the regular season with a 30-point performance against the Dallas Wings, the Fever guard followed it up with another strong outing against the Los Angeles Sparks (23 points) before adding 24 against Washington.
Given Mitchell’s importance to Indiana’s offence, this is a situation worth monitoring.
