Katarzyna Kawa at WTA 125 Megasaray Hotels Open

Katarzyna Kawa and Maja Chwalińska are participating in the WTA 125 Megasaray Hotels Open, a series of clay court tournaments in Antalya, Turkey.

Kawa’s Performance in Antalya

Kawa’s first tournament ended after her first match, where she was defeated by Moyuki Uchijima. In the second tournament, she reached the semi-finals but lost to Anhelina Kalinina. She began the third tournament with a victory.

Chwalińska’s Comeback Victory

Chwalińska also started the third tournament with a win. The 24-year-old defeated Ada Kumru in her first match 6-0, 6-0.

In the second round, Chwalińska faced Tamara Zidansek. Zidansek is ranked 148th in the WTA rankings, while Chwalińska is ranked 134th. This match was their first encounter.

Chwalińska had a terrible start to the match. Zidansek won the first game on her serve and then broke Chwalińska’s serve. Zidansek continued to dominate, breaking Chwalińska’s serve again in the fourth game to lead 5-0.

However, when facing the possibility of losing the first set 6-0, Chwalińska’s game changed completely. She won her first game and then saved a set point to break back (2-5). Chwalińska levelled the score at 5-5, recovering both breaks. Zidansek then won the eleventh game to lead 6-5. Chwalińska forced a tie-break. She dominated the tie-break, winning 7-6(1).

Second Set Action

Zidansek had an opportunity to break Chwalińska’s serve at the start of the second set, but Chwalińska held on to win the first game. The Slovenian then held her serve. In the third game, Zidansek finally broke Chwalińska’s serve, but Chwalińska broke back immediately to level the score at 2-2. Chwalińska then took the lead on her own serve. Zidansek quickly levelled the score.
