The New Orleans Saints have traded punter Kai Kroeger to the Houston Texans. This comes a day after the Saints signed Ryan Wright to handle punting duties.

Details of the Kroeger Trade

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Saints dealt Kai Kroeger for a pick swap in a future NFL draft. The Saints sent their seventh-round pick in 2028. In return, they received the Texans’ sixth-rounder in the same year.

Kroeger’s Performance with the Saints

Kroeger started all 17 games in 2025 for the Saints. As a rookie out of South Carolina, he averaged 44.8 yards per punt, which ranked 30th in the NFL. His net average was 37.3 yards per punt, placing him 31st in the league. Kroeger also tied for the league-high with two punts blocked.

Ryan Wright’s Arrival

Ryan Wright agreed to a four-year $14 million deal with the Saints on Monday. Wright was eighth in the league at 49.0 yards per punt for the Minnesota Vikings. He also ranked fourth with 44.5 net yards per punt. The deal can become official when the league year starts Wednesday.
