Justin Pippen is set to join Ohio State after committing to the university. His agents at WME Basketball confirmed the move. Pippen is transferring after a breakout season with Cal.
Pippen’s Breakout Season at Cal
Pippen, a sophomore guard, averaged 14.2 points per game this year for Cal. He also contributed 4.6 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game. Pippen entered the NCAA transfer portal earlier this week.
Following in His Family’s Footsteps
Justin Pippen is the son of NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen. He played his high school basketball at Sierra Canyon in Los Angeles. His older brother is Memphis Grizzlies guard Scotty Pippen Jr.
Expected Role at Ohio State
Pippen is expected to play a significant role at Ohio State. The combo guard will be expected to fill a similar role to departing Buckeye guard Devin Royal. Pippen will be the rare player to play on both sides of the rivalry between Michigan and Ohio State. He played 28 games for Michigan in 2024-25 before transferring to Cal.
Leading Cal and Looking Ahead
This year, Pippen led Cal to the second round of the NIT. He led the Bears in assists. He also finished tied for second on the team in scoring average.
