The NHL have penalised John Tortorella and the Vegas Golden Knights following a breach of media access regulations.
Tortorella was fined $100,000, and the Golden Knights had a second-round draft pick docked.
Details of the Penalties
The penalties were handed down on Friday. This was after the Golden Knights’ series-clinching Game 6 victory at Anaheim on Thursday night.
The NHL stated the penalties followed previous warnings issued to the Golden Knights.
Tortorella’s Actions and Locker Room Closure
Tortorella refused to speak to reporters after Vegas routed the Ducks 5-1. The victory meant they would move on to face Colorado in the Western Conference final.
The Golden Knights also did not open their locker room. This was not in accordance with league and Players’ Association-negotiated regulations.
Golden Knights’ Option to Appeal
The team has been offered the opportunity to appeal. They can appeal to Commissioner Gary Bettman’s office in person at the league’s New York headquarters next week.
