Portsmouth boss John Mousinho is among the favourites to become Bristol City’s new manager, according to bookmakers. The Robins are seeking a replacement for Roy Hodgson.
Hodgson’s interim contract expired last week. He had been appointed to oversee the final seven games of the season after Gerhard Struber’s departure.
Mousinho Emerges as Frontrunner
Pompey head coach John Mousinho is currently priced at 4/6. Mousinho retired from football in January 2023 to take up the manager’s position at Fratton Park.
In his first full season in charge, he guided Portsmouth to the League One title. Under Mousinho, Pompey will be heading into their third straight season of Championship football.
Skubala Also in the Mix
Lincoln manager Michael Skubala is also a favourite at 2/1. Skubala joined the Imps from Leeds United in November 2023.
Lincoln won the League One title with 103 points this season.
Other Potential Candidates
Former Rangers coaches Russell Martin and Steven Gerrard are priced at 6/1 and 8/1, respectively. When the bookies first published odds last week, Martin and Gerrard were the early favourites.
Dave Challinor, Liam Rosenior and Lee Carsley are further down the list. They sit at 10/1, 16/1 and 20/1, respectively.
A host of names feature in the 25/1 and 33/1 brackets. These include Carlos Corberan, Steve Cooper, Tony Mowbray, Gary Rowett and Marti Ci.
The Robins’ yet-to-be-named new sporting director will lead the search for a new manager ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. Supporters will be hopeful that some progress will be made in that hunt sooner rather than later, with the off-season now more than a week old.
