Jens Castrop Called Up to South Korea’s World Cup Squad

Jens Castrop has been named in South Korea’s squad for the upcoming World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada. The Borussia Mönchengladbach player is one of three Bundesliga players included in the squad by manager Myung-bo Hong.

Bayern Munich’s Min-jae Kim and Mainz’s Jae-sung Lee are the other Bundesliga players to be called up.

Castrop’s International Switch

Castrop only became eligible to play for South Korea last August. The Düsseldorf-born midfielder previously represented Germany at every youth level.

He made four appearances for Germany’s U21 team.

Son to Lead South Korea

Heung-min Son will lead the South Korea squad. The former Hamburger and Leverkusen player, now with Los Angeles FC in the MLS, is set to appear in his fourth World Cup.

It will be the country’s twelfth appearance at the tournament.

South Korea’s Group Stage Opponents

South Korea will face co-hosts Mexico, Czech Republic, and South Africa in Group A.

South Korea’s squad will be led by Heung-min Son.
