Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray exited Friday night’s game against the New York Knicks with a left ankle injury just before halftime. The incident occurred with 1:05 left in the first half.
Murray’s injury came on a night when the Nuggets had their original starting lineup on the court for the first time since Nov. 12. Aaron Gordon had returned from a hamstring injury, and Cam Johnson came back from a sprained right ankle.
How Murray’s Injury Happened
Murray sustained the injury after making contact with OG Anunoby while driving in the lane. He then stepped back onto the right foot of teammate Nikola Jokic.
Grasping his left ankle, Murray fell to the floor in pain. He was then helped to the locker room by teammate Jonas Valanciunas, grimacing as he hobbled off the court.
Knicks Take Advantage
During the stoppage in play, Knicks coach Mike Brown challenged a call on the court of an Anunoby charge. The challenge was successful.
Murray was assessed the blocking foul, and Anunoby made both free throws. This gave the Knicks a 65-42 lead at halftime.
