New York secured a 2-1 victory against the Dallas Stars at UBS Arena on Thursday night. Goals were scored by Bo Horvat and Cal Ritchie. Ilya Sorokin played a key role, saving 26 of 27 shots.

The Islanders now hold the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference with 87 points. They overtook the Ottawa Senators, who have 86 points. The Pittsburgh Penguins, with 88 points, are now in second place in the Metropolitan Division, followed by the Columbus Blue Jackets with 87 points.
Both Pittsburgh and Columbus have one game in-hand on the Isles.
Goaltending and Injury Updates
Sorokin is likely to start his second consecutive game. He has a 3-3-1 record against Florida, with a 3.17 GAA and a .904 SV% all-time. This season, Sorokin is 27-18-2 with a 2.48 GAA, .914 SV% and league-leading seven shutouts.
Tony DeAngelo is set to miss 1-2 weeks due to a lower-body injury, which occurred during Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks. The defenceman has 33 points this season (5 goals, 28 assists), along with 30 hits and 67 blocked shots.
Horvat’s Milestone and Team Record
Horvat’s opening goal in the game against the Stars marked his 30th of the season. This is his fourth career 30-goal season, achieved in 59 games. Horvat is third on the team with 52 points (30 goals, 22 assists) and leads the Islanders with 30 goals this season.
The Islanders have achieved a new single-season team record for one-goal victories, with 27 this season, surpassing the 2014-15 season record of 26.
