This International Women’s Day sees a celebration of investment, opportunity, and community helping women and girls across Wales flourish through football.
Environments for Her Fund
The Cymru Football Foundation (CFF) is marking International Women’s Day by highlighting its Environments for Her Fund. The initiative was created following the Wales Women’s National Team’s qualification for UEFA Women’s EURO 2025.
This moment inspired a commitment to lasting change, with £1 million invested to make off-field facilities safe, welcoming and inspiring for women and girls who participate in the grassroots game.
Over 20 clubs across Wales have each received grants of up to £50,000 through this fund. These projects are helping ensure that the women and girls who play, coach, volunteer, or simply enjoy the game have a safe space to thrive, with work ranging from changing room renovations to safer, more welcoming social spaces.
Collectively, these clubs are home to more than 2,000 registered players.
Investment in Grassroots Football
The Environments for Her Fund represents one chapter in a much bigger story.
To date, the CFF has invested almost £25 million into grassroots football facilities across Wales.
One of the key considerations when investing is driving equal access to high‑quality facilities, and the results speak for themselves. Access to high-quality, inclusive football facilities for women and girls has increased by 56% since 2022 thanks to strategic partnerships, targeted funding, and a commitment to breaking down barriers.
Environments For Her is helping meet the growing demand for grassroots football opportunities amongst women and girls.
