Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) announced on Wednesday that Zimbabwe will host India for a three-match T20I series in Harare in July.
This marks India’s first tour to Zimbabwe since July 2024, when they played five T20Is. The announcement comes shortly after the confirmation of Zimbabwe’s tour of India for three ODIs in January 2027.
Zimbabwe to Host India for T20Is
The July series presents a significant opportunity for both players and fans in Zimbabwe, according to Givemore Makoni, the ZC managing director.
Makoni stated that matches against India generate enormous interest, offering Zimbabwean players a chance to compete against the world champions on their home ground.
“Following our encouraging performances at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, this series gives us a strong platform to build momentum and continue growing as a competitive force in international cricket,” he said.
Zimbabwe’s Tour of India After Two Decades
Zimbabwe’s tour of India after more than two decades is also reason for excitement at ZC.
Their visit will be for a bilateral ODI series, marking their first visit to India for such a series since 2002.
Makoni said it is a landmark moment for Zimbabwe to be touring India again for a bilateral ODI series after more than two decades.
India and Zimbabwe’s Recent Meeting
India and Zimbabwe most recently played each other in the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup.
India won that match by 72 runs in Chennai after scoring 256 for 4.
