Hornets’ Frontcourt Depth Tested Against Celtics

The Charlotte Hornets will face the Boston Celtics with a depleted frontcourt. Forwards Grant Williams and Tidjane Salaün have been ruled out of tonight’s game.

Salaün’s Injury and Williams’ Management

Salaün’s injury occurred late in the game against the Dallas Mavericks. He was fouled while shooting in the paint and landed awkwardly on his leg. He was able to walk around and shoot free throws before being intentionally fouled to exit the game. Further details regarding the severity of the injury have not been released.

Grant Williams will sit out for precautionary reasons. The Hornets’ medical team is managing his return to play carefully, advising against playing both legs of a back-to-back. Since his return, he has averaged 7.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game, shooting 42% from the floor and 37% from three-point range.

Bridges’ Increased Role and Lineup Adjustments

Miles Bridges is expected to play heavy minutes. He may need to log 35-38 minutes. Staying out of foul trouble will be key for him and the team’s chances of winning.

When Charles Lee goes to the bench, Sion James might play at the four. Lee has used him on bigs before due to his strength and physicality. The team could also play with a couple of bigs on the floor at the same time, such as Moussa Diabaté and Ryan Kalkbrenner or even Xavier Tillman Sr.

Evbuomwan Recalled

Tosan Evbuomwan has been recalled from the Greensboro Swarm. He will be available for the Hornets.

The Hornets and Celtics game is scheduled to begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed live and will air on Sports Radio WFNZ.
