Hamilton Tests for Ferrari at Fiorano: Wet Weather Focus

F1 action continues this month as tyre supplier Pirelli carries out several tests.

Hamilton’s Fiorano Run

Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari have been back out on track this week to help Pirelli with some valuable development work.

While no races are being held in April, some teams are still in action to support the tyre manufacturer’s testing programme.

After Red Bull and Racing Bulls stayed behind in Japan for two days of running, Ferrari are taking part in a test (across Thursday and Friday) at their Fiorano track, while Mercedes and McLaren are preparing to head to the Nurburgring for another session from April 14-15.

Wet Weather Compound Development

Ferrari’s test is dedicated to the development of wet-weather compounds.

Hamilton completed 142 laps (some 423 kilometres) on Thursday as he worked through runs on full wet and intermediate tyres.

Artificial Conditions at Fiorano

The Fiorano track surface was artificially watered using an irrigation system, which created consistent wet conditions for Pirelli to extract data from.
