The Warriors secured a 109-106 victory over the Brooklyn Nets, with Gui Santos leading the charge by scoring a career-high 31 points.
The Nets, who have been struggling with 18 losses in their last 20 games, proved a tough opponent for the Warriors for much of the game. Golden State found their rhythm in the fourth quarter, outscoring Brooklyn by 12 points to clinch the win.
Santos Steals the Show
Gui Santos was the standout performer, achieving his first 30-point game with 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting. However, he also had five turnovers, contributing to the Warriors’ season-high of 26.
Brandin Podziemski also made a significant contribution with 22 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Gary Payton II continued his efficient play off the bench, scoring 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting, extending his streak to 16 consecutive made shots.
Opportunity Knocks for Santos
Santos found himself back in the starting five after Moses Moody was sidelined. He made the most of the opportunity, tying for the team lead in points after the first quarter with six, and at halftime with 10.
Santos was also the first player to reach 20 points in the third quarter. By the end of the third, Santos had already scored a new career-high of 25 points and made four of the Warriors’ seven 3-pointers, but also had a game-worst minus-15 rating.
Warriors Find a Way to Win
The Warriors have been struggling on offense due to the loss of star power and shooting ability. They are having to be creative to score points.
The Warriors and Nets both went 4 of 5 from the free-throw line.
The win marks the Warriors’ first winning streak since Jimmy Butler’s season-ending torn ACL on Jan. 19, improving their record to 35-38.
