The Memphis Grizzlies have added a new player to their roster, signing Adama Bal to a 10-day contract. The move comes after the Grizzlies’ 119-109 loss against the Houston Rockets.
Bal arrives from the New York Knicks’ G League affiliate in Westchester.
Bal’s Path to the Grizzlies
Adama Bal’s agent, Yann Balikouzou of LIFT Sports Management, confirmed the agreement with the Grizzlies. Bal is a 6-foot-7 French forward. He has been playing for the Westchester Knicks this season.
Bal previously earned two All-WCC First Team selections while at Santa Clara.
The Grizzlies will provide Bal with an opportunity to display his skills in the NBA. The Western Conference team has been struggling with an undermanned roster this year.
Grizzlies’ Current Situation
The Grizzlies are currently the 12th seed in the Western Conference. Their record stands at 24-49. They are currently on a five-game losing streak and have only secured one win in their last 10 games.
Only the Dallas Mavericks, Utah Jazz, and the Sacramento Kings are struggling more than the Grizzlies in the West.
Bal’s College and G League Career
Bal began his NCAA career in 2021 at Arizona. He played in 49 games for the team, all off the bench. He averaged 6.5 minutes per game during his two seasons there.
Bal averaged just 2.0 points due to a lack of playing time.
He then transferred to Santa Clara, where he played for two seasons. He became a full-time starter, averaging 30.7 minutes per game.
With increased playing time, Bal averaged 13.7 points (41.8%), 2.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.
Despite being eligible for the 2025 draft, Bal went undrafted. He initially planned to play overseas, signing with a French team but ultimately not joining them.
Instead, Bal joined the Knicks’ G League team.
During the Tip-Off Tournament, Bal played in 11 games, averaging 8.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.
In the G League regular season, Bal has played 18 games, averaging 15.4 minutes off the bench. He has produced 6.9 points with 40.0% shooting and 1.9 rebounds per game.
Bal will now get the chance to prove himself with the Grizzlies.
