Alejandro Garnacho has lauded Joao Pedro’s influence following Chelsea’s dominant 4-1 victory against Aston Villa. Garnacho likened the game to a ‘final’. The South American duo combined for the final goal of Joao Pedro’s hat-trick.
Blues Bounce Back at Villa Park
After a run of three Premier League games without a win, Chelsea responded emphatically at Villa Park. Despite conceding an early goal, Joao Pedro equalised and then chipped Chelsea into the lead before half-time.
Following the interval, Cole Palmer extended the lead before Garnacho squared a pass to Joao Pedro, who completed his first league hat-trick of the season. Garnacho, speaking to the media after the match, praised his team-mate’s performance and the significance of his goals in their pursuit of a Champions League spot.
Garnacho’s Post-Match Reaction
‘It’s crazy, the guy is just scoring goals,’ Garnacho said of Joao Pedro. ‘The confidence is very high, and he is helping us a lot, so we are really happy for him.
‘He’s performing how he knows to perform. He is a top striker, one of the best on the team, and I just passed it to him because of the hat-trick.’
Closing the Gap
Garnacho acknowledged the importance of the victory at Villa Park. He noted that the win closed the gap on the top four. He was pleased with the team’s positive response after conceding an early goal.
He continued: ‘It was a really good win. I think we got a good result at a difficult stadium. We are really proud of the group and happy to get the three points.
‘We knew after our last game, it was [almost like] a final today. We are a group that works really hard, so we came here and gave everything to the badge.
‘We have to win to take their top four place, and I think we have done a fantastic job, so we are really happy.’
