FIFA to Sell World Cup Final Pitch Pieces for Up to $3,000

FIFA has announced it will sell small pieces of the New York New Jersey Stadium pitch, where the 2026 World Cup final will be played. These unique collectibles will be available online, with prices ranging from $450 to $3,000. Buyers in the U.S., UK, and Europe are eligible to receive these items, which will be shipped after the final on July 19.

Each piece of the pitch is encased in resin to preserve the grass. The acrylic casing will be inscribed with the 2026 World Cup logo, the venue, the date, and the match’s final score. An “authenticity film” on a USB drive accompanies each collectible.

Collectibles and Revenue Potential

UK-based Keep Stub manufactures these collectibles, offering three additional versions on its website alongside the initial $450 option. These tiers are priced at $900, $1,200, and $3,000. Each of the four tiers is limited to 2,026 pieces, meaning that if all pieces sell out, they are projected to generate more than $11.2 million in revenue.

The packaging and additional items included change with each price increase. For the lower three tiers, the section of grass measures 2.5″ x 2.5″ x 2.5″. The $3,000 “Hero Edition” offers a larger 3″ x 3″ x 3″ section of grass.

This premium edition also includes a gold-etched metal souvenir ticket, a mini replica World Cup final ball, and a crystal-cut glass World Cup trophy. Buyers of the “Hero Edition” will receive these additional items.

Pitch Condition Under Scrutiny

The playing surface at New York New Jersey Stadium was sourced from a turf farm in North Carolina and installed in early May. However, the pitch has faced criticism from Brazil and France players, who described it as dry and difficult to play on following matches in earlier rounds of the tournament.

Growing Trend in Sports Memorabilia

Selling pieces of notable playing surfaces has become more common in the sports collectibles world. Boise State, for instance, sells pieces of its famous blue turf American football field, with prices ranging from $40 for a small swatch to $25,000 for a 400-square-foot sheet that includes free professional installation in the buyer’s home.

Major League Baseball sells small jars of dirt from Game 7 of the 2025 World Series at Rogers Centre for $50 each. Earlier this week, Sotheby’s auctioned off two 4-by-8 sections of court used at Madison Square Garden for NBA Finals Games 3 and 4, with each selling for more than $100,000.

Beyond the pitch, FIFA rolled out limited-edition host city jerseys in May, priced at $375 each. Only 999 of each of the 16 jerseys were produced, and they remain available on FIFA’s website.

The sale of these pitch pieces follows a trend of sports organisations offering unique, high-value collectibles to fans, with the World Cup final pitch set to become the latest addition to this expanding market.
