Ewa Swoboda Aims for Fast Times at Toruń Championships

Ewa Swoboda admits to feeling the pressure ahead of the competition. She hopes to put in a strong performance in the 60m event.

Swoboda’s Mindset Before Toruń

Swoboda says she feels a bit stressed since the official conference before the championships. Despite the stress, she also feels excited about what will happen. Swoboda said she is “podjarana” about the event.

When asked about her coach’s opinion, Swoboda said that her coach has been at every training session. She believes that they must trust her coach.

Preparation and Expectations

Swoboda says that she feels ready. She stated that she put a lot of work into preparing for the championships. She has focused everything on the 60 metres to run very fast.

Swoboda believes in the track, noting that it is good, hard and fast. She also believes in her own form, and asks “czemu nie?” – why not?

Swoboda says she would take a bronze medal. She recognises the high level of competition in the 60 metres. This motivates her to work hard.

The Standard of Competition

Swoboda acknowledges the need to run fast to win a medal. She notes that times above seven seconds might only be enough for bronze. She estimates that 7.01-7.02 seconds, or 7.03 seconds at most, might be enough for a bronze. She also says that the times when running seven seconds with change being enough to get on the podium are over.

Future Goals

Swoboda also has ambitions beyond the 60m event. She wants to break the Polish record in the 100 metres. After that, she intends to explore the possibility of winning in the long jump.

  • Swoboda wants to try long jump to avoid future regret.
  • She has only practiced standing long jump, triple jump and five jump as sprint training.
  • She has never tried long jump with a run-up.

The Women’s 60m heats begin on Saturday at 11.05. Swoboda will compete in the seventh series at 11.47. The semi-finals will take place at 20.14 on Saturday, with the final at 21.20.
