The Anaheim Ducks defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 after Ryan Poehling’s overtime goal was confirmed after review.
The Ducks now hold a 3-1 series lead.
Poehling’s Overtime Winner
Ryan Poehling scored his first career overtime goal 2:29 into the period, sneaking the puck under Tristan Jarry’s skate.
The Honda Center erupted in celebration, not once, but three times: initially when the puck went in, again when it was ruled a goal on the ice, and loudest of all after the review.
The puck barely crossed the red line, but the view was clear enough to uphold the call on the ice.
Game Summary
Edmonton initially took a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Kasperi Kapanen and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
Anaheim responded in the second period with goals from Cutter Gauthier and Mikael Granlund to tie the game.
The Oilers regained the lead early in the third period, but the Ducks answered with six and a half minutes remaining.
Looking Ahead
The Ducks will head to Edmonton with a chance to clinch the series on Tuesday.
Anaheim’s offence has been firing on all cylinders, scoring at least three goals in every game and a total of 20 goals over four games.
The Ducks fans are eager to see their team advance past the first round for the first time since the 2017 playoffs.
