A decent amount of Celtics fans had Brown in the lead or close to it for much of the league’s 2025-26 regular season.
The Georgia native garnered no first place votes but still had a strong showing in the race in general.
However, some observers felt there may have been a touch of green-tinted lenses playing into such an assessment.

The question was raised whether it was fair for players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama, and Nikola Jokic, in addition to Luka Dončić, to be ahead of Brown in the assessment of the NBA’s MVP.
